Check our web page www.hillvalley.org for pictures of our winners and a list of Honorable Mention.

The Board appreciated the excellent and creative efforts of everyone to beautify our neighborhood for the holiday season. If you saw flashlights pointed at your house or mailbox, we were trying to make sure of your address. It was a challenge. We are sorry the weather prevented some of you from getting everything up. Happy New Year from your Board! We hope you all had a delightful holiday – Christmas, Chanukah or Kwanza – and are off to a joyful 2008.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Happy New Year! Thanks for the beautiful Christmas lighting of our neighborhood. It’s again that time of year to keep your cars and other vehicles off the street for the snow plows. We are open to suggestions for new ideas for getting more members. We could also use some new active members to help get some of the older members back in the fold. Please welcome Charlie Eldridge of Grassy Lane as our newest Board Member. Charlie has graciously accepted the position of Chair of the Membership Committee. John Renault has given HVHA great service in this capacity for over twenty years and is very happy to hand it off. John will continue to serve on the Board. It is now time to renew memberships – our envelope is enclosed. Best regards, Steve

SNOW REMOVAL

We will continue to refine the thoroughness and convenience of snow removal. We hope you were pleased with the response to the December snowstorms. Please let us know as soon as possible if there is any problem with the service we are receiving from our contractors. Contact the Smiths, 865-7761 or the Scheidlers, 881-1558.

AREA BEAUTIFICATION

In 2008 the HVHA Board will continue the spring, summer and fall lawnscaping contest for our members, complementing our Christmas Decorations Contest, as a way to continue promoting the beautification of our neighborhoods. In the spring the focus will be on bulb flowers and early-blooming shrubs and trees, along with your evergreens. Judging will be in late April or early May. In the summer the focus will be on summer flowers and shrubs. Judging will be late June or early July. Fall flowers and shrubs will be judged in late September or October. Last year the weather conspired to scuttle both the spring and summer seasons for flowers. We are thankful that we had a beautiful fall.

First, second and third prizes will be awarded for East and West Hill Valley for each of the seasons. Winners will be recognized on the web site and will receive trophies similar to the Decorations Contest.

INFORMATION FOR NEW RESIDENTS OF HILL VALLEY

There are 1100 homes in Hill Valley. We have grown together over thirty-seven years to support a Homeowners Association with a Board of Directors. Joining is only $25. per year and covers the cost of snow plowing and a quarterly Newsletter to inform everyone what is coming up next, including zoning bulletins. We have an annual picnic for all members of the HVHA that includes a full meal, recreation for the children, and dancing for everybody. We have a website, www.hillvalley.org, where you can find our mission statement, a map of the whole neighborhood, a list of all board members, a monthly calendar, special events and announcements, past Newsletters, and important area phone numbers; and, alerts on new issues and an e-mail link to notify us of any problems or neighborhood news.

ALERTS

To keep you posted on serious situations or issues we have implemented an Alerts page on the HVHA web site. Please call or e-mail the webmaster, Don Smith, 865-7761, at hvhoa@hillvalley.org about any situation that you believe needs to be shared with your neighbors. With the rash of vandalism of parked cars in nearby neighborhoods, please make sure to lock your cars and take valuable items into the house. Also, keep your garage doors closed, especially on weekends.
