ATTENTION MEMBERS! HILL VALLEY SUMMER SOCIAL IS AUGUST 10

On the menu: Rib eye steaks, brats, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, chips, cookies, pop, beer and wine. This year, we will have pony rides, miniature golf, a petting zoo, a bounce and a climbing wall for the children. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. Food service starts at 5:30. There will be door prizes and a hula-hoop contest for the youth. You must be a member and present the invitation that will be mailed to current members in mid-July. You may pay for your homeowner's dues at the gate. Dues are $25.00. If you can help in any way please contact a board member or Steve Scheidler at 881-1558. On the label of the invitation is the number of adults and number of children in the household, as we know it. Please advise us of any change in these numbers.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello again, It is hot and dry and we are seeing an influx of weeds in the area. If you are unable to keep the weeds down, please give me a call, I will get you some help.
There has been an unusual number of zoning violations these past two months and it has kept us busy with the Mayor’s Action Center. Please trim your bushes and trees so the street signs are visible.
The annual meeting will be October 15th at Friedens. We need some board members. Regards,
Steve

BEAUTIFICATION AWARDS

The unusual "spring" weather took its toll on our spring flowers. We were unable to find a time when the flowers were at their peak as they were last year, so the spring awards were suspended. We will try again to find when the Summer flowers are at their best but the extremely dry weather so far is discouraging. Board members act as judges and are looking for overall "eye appeal" for each season so any Member’s lawnscape can win. Please feel free to recommend that we visit your place or visit a neighbor. All suggestions are welcome.

GARAGE SALE PARTICIPANTS

Those of you who want to participate in the July or August Garage Sales can have your location identified on a map of Hill Valley Estates that will be made available to the shoppers at the entrances to the neighborhood. Contact Joan Smith, HVHA Treasurer at 865-7761 or joansss@comcast.net to list your address on the map. For the July 28 One Day Sale, the deadline is Thursday, July 26. For the three-day August Garage Sale the deadline is Tuesday, August 14. There will be no cost to you. Hopefully you’ll have increased sales. Please let Joan know early if there will be any participants for July so she can place the ads.

NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS

Thanks from the Eckstein Family on West Hill Valley Dr, "We would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers, kind words, meals and gifts for our 3 year old son, Kyle. He was in a lawnmower accident on April 24 and was in the hospital for 15 days. He is doing great now. He had pins and staples removed May 29 and will have to do some Physical Therapy but should be up and running before the end of the summer. We are so lucky to have such wonderful, caring neighbors."

Tom Probasco has found a way to access articles of the Indianapolis Star back to 1999 using the Marion County library website. Go to www.ilibrary.org and log in using your library card number. Your password is the last four digits of your card number. Scroll down to the "I’s" and find Indianapolis Star. It will connect you to a search site to find any type of article which you can then print or copy and paste.

PARKING ISSUES

Some residents may not realize that there are city regulations on parking commercial vehicles/trailers that are not engaged in actual delivery of services. Commercial vehicles or trailers cannot be parked, stored, maintained or kept on residential property unless they are inside a garage or carport. The only exception is if it is ¾ ton or less and the only method of transportation. Similarly, inoperable vehicles must also be kept completely inside an accessory structure. Any violations of these rules can be reported to the Mayor’s Action Center, 327-4622, by anyone and a case number will be assigned for follow-up.

2007 MEMBERS

Thanks to the 634 families and individuals who have already joined the Hill Valley Homeowners Association for 2007. Welcome aboard and enjoy the August picnic! Membership in the HVHA is entirely voluntary. We should be proud that our membership has repeatedly exceeded 60% of the homes in Hill Valley Estates. That is very high for voluntary neighborhood associations.

2007 EVENTS CALENDAR

Newsletters are sent out during the first or second week of January, April, July, and October. Any news must be submitted before the end of previous month. INFORMATION FOR NEW RESIDENTS OF HILL VALLEY

There are 1100 homes in Hill Valley. We have grown together over the many years to support a Homeowners Association with a Board of Directors. Joining is only $25. per year and that covers the cost of snow plowing and a quarterly Newsletter to inform everyone what is coming up next, including zoning bulletins. We have an annual picnic for all members of the Hill Valley Homeowners Assn. and includes a full meal, recreation for the children, and dancing for everybody. We have a website, www.hillvalley.org, where you can find our mission statement, a map of the whole neighborhood, a list of all board members, a monthly calendar, special events and announcements, past Newsletters, and important area phone numbers.

ALERTS

To keep you posted on serious situations or issues we have implemented an Alerts page on the HVHA web site. Please call or e-mail the webmaster, Don Smith, 865-7761 or info@hillvalley.org about any situation that you believe needs to be shared with your neighbors.

MEMBERS SERVING MEMBERS

If you have a specialty or talent that you would want your neighborhood to know about, we will be glad to list your name, address, contact information and a description in 12 words or less of your business or craft. There will be no charge but no special wording or art treatment. This is information, not advertising, and a service to all members.
