MARK YOUR CALENDAR! HILL VALLEY SUMMER SOCIAL IS AUGUST 11
On the menu: Rib eye steaks, brats, hotdogs, potato salad, baked beans, chips, cookies, Twinkies, pop, beer and wine. This year, we will have pony rides, miniature golf, a petting zoo, a bounce and a climbing wall for the children. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. There will be door prizes and a hula-hoop contest for the youth. You must be a member and present the invitation that will be mailed to current members in mid-July. You may pay for your homeowner's dues at the gate. Dues are $25.00. If you would like to volunteer to help please contact a board member or Steve Scheidler at 881-1558. On the label of the invitation is the number of adults and number of children in the household, as we know it. Please advise us of any change in these numbers.
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Fellow Residents, We are very pleased with the number of yards that we had to judge for the spring flowers and trees. From all appearances it was great for the first time and we look forward to getting even better. Let us know of any beautiful yards, front or back, that we should not overlook. We are getting closer to picnic time again. It will be on August 11th from 5pm to until 10pm. We will need some volunteers for help for an hour or so. If you see anything out of order in the neighborhood, please call the sheriff at 327-3811 Sincerely Steve.

CRIME WATCH LEADERSHIP CHANGE
Steve Fites is the new East Hill Valley Crime Watch Coordinator.
Steve is originally from Ohio, moving to Indianapolis in 1972 with his parents. Steve works for a consulting engineering firm downtown. He and his wife, Debbie, have been married for 20 years. Steve and Debbie have been residents of Hill Valley since 1997 and have four children; two boys – Andrew (16) and Joel (12), and two girls – Ellie (5) and Kate (3).
If there are any questions or concerns about Crime Watch, please feel free to call or e-mail Steve at 889-3942 or ajdesignsdf@sbcglobal.net or steve.fites@redimond.com "Thanks to everyone, and I look forward to meeting everyone at this year’s picnic."
In taking this position Steve gives great thanks to Barb Brown for making it appear so easy. "She has done a tremendous amount of work since her beginnings as coordinator. I am truly thankful to her. We wouldn’t even be close without you! THANKS BARB!"
ALERTS
To keep you posted on serious situations or issues we have implemented an Alerts page on the HVHOA web site. Please call or e-mail the webmaster, Don Smith, 865-7761 or info@hillvalley.org about any situation that you believe needs to be shared with your neighbors.
For those of you who stay up way past midnight, be alert for noisy pickup trucks, which may be smeared with mud. You might be sighting the culprit of the "lawn jobs" which are done at night. Contact the MCSD at 327-3811 if you obtain any information about vandalism.
2006 MEMBERS
Thanks to the 586 families and individuals who have already joined the Hill Valley Homeowners Association for 2006. Welcome aboard and enjoy the August picnic! Membership in the HVHOA is entirely voluntary. Our membership has repeatedly exceeded 60% of the homes in Hill Valley Estates, which is very high for voluntary neighborhood associations.
2006 EVENTS CALENDAR
Newsletters are sent out during the first or second week of January, April, July, and October. Any news must be submitted before the end of previous month. This newsletter is mailed to all residents of Hill Valley as a courtesy of the Association and to keep everyone who cares about their property informed.

GARAGE SALE PARTICIPANTS
Those of you who want to participate in the July or August Garage Sales can have your location identified on a map of Hill Valley Estates that will be made available to the shoppers at the entrances to the neighborhood. Contact Joan Smith, HVHA Treasurer at 865-7761 or joansss@comcast.net to list your address on the map. For the July 29 One Day Sale, the deadline is Thursday, July 27. For the three-day August Garage Sale the deadline is Tuesday, August 15. There will be no cost to you. Hopefully you’ll have increased sales. Please let Joan know early if there will be any participants for July so she can place the ads.
NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS
The web site will have a new page with advice on how to get rid of spam e-mails before they get on your computer and how to respond to "phishing". We will add other information as needed.
At the Board meetings we hear of residences that are having difficulty being maintained. The Board has tried to be vigilant in dealing with property owners who do not seem to care about the condition of their property and the effects on their neighbors. However, we also recognize that elderly and disabled property owners may need assistance in keeping up with lawn and maintenance. To that extent we would like to ask if there are persons in the neighborhood who would be willing to volunteer to help such neighbors. If we have enough volunteers there would not be a big load on any one person .
CARD PLAYERS WANTED
Several residents have mentioned that they would like to start up a friendly circle of card players who like to play euchre, pinochle or bridge. Contact Joan or Don Smith at 865-7761 or use the web site e-mail if you are interested.
INFORMATION FOR NEW RESIDENTS OF HILL VALLEY
There are 1100 homes in Hill Valley. We have grown together over the many years to support a Homeowners Association with a Board of Directors. Joining is only $25. per year and which provides the cost of snow plowing. We publish a quarterly Newsletter to inform everyone what¹s coming up next including zoning bulletins. We have an annual picnic which is open to all members of the Hill Valley Homeowners Assn. and includes a full meal, recreation for the children, and dancing for the adults. We have a website, www.hillvalley.org, where you can find Alerts, our mission statement, a map of the whole neighborhood, a list of all board members, a monthly calendar, special events and announcements, past Newsletters, and important area phone numbers.
MEMBERS SERVING MEMBERS
If you have a specialty or talent that you would want your neighborhood to know about, we will be glad to list your name, address, contact information and a description in 12 words or less of your business or craft. There will be no special wording or art. This is not advertising but a service to all members.
