PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Fellow Residents, We had a very good picnic again this year – the biggest one yet. Don’t forget the Annual Membership Meeting at Frieden’s Church on Oct 24. If there is a snow forecast please do not park your cars on the street so we can get the snowplows through. Think about your Christmas Decorations – it will be that time very soon. If you have a mosquito problem, call 221-7440.

Sincerely, Steve

PERRY PARK LAND ISSUE

The Perry Township School District owns and leases to the city the land used for Perry Park on Stop 11 Road. The School Board received a request from the Resurrection Lutheran Church to purchase at least 5 acres of the current Perry Park, including the soccer fields and part of the woods. The HVHA web site has an Alert with details and e-mail addresses of School Board members. This request will be discussed at the next School Board retreat in October. Please make your opinion known directly to the School Board members.

CRIME WATCH BEAT – by Steve Fites

Incident Reports – 3rd Quarter 2006

7/5/06 Bishops Lane-West Hill Valley – Burglary - Resident returns home to find the dog outside, a computer game gone, & jewelry box rifled through.

7/6/06 Bishops Lane-West Hill Valley –Theft -Individual crept under garage door to steal beer from refrigerator in garage.

It seems we have a lot of speeding throughout both East and West Hilly Valley. We need to at least try to track down a license plate or make and model of the vehicle and forward it to me with a time and place. With all the small children around and school back in session, we really need to keep our our guard up at all times!!!

I recently drove around both East and West Hill Valley in the evening about 9:00 and I couldn’t help but notice all the homeowners that had porch lights on It was absolutely AWESOME. This deters crime and shows people that we do care about our community!

I attended a meeting regarding the Indianapolis Crime Watch / Crime Prevention Program including details after the blending of IPD and MCSD in January. Mayor Peterson and Sheriff Anderson presided and answered numerous questions that arose throughout the meeting. Shirley Purvitis, Citywide Crime Watch Coordinator, made a presentation and spelled out the plan.

All the officials emphasized that Crime Prevention begins at home – learning right from wrong is just one of the basic tools that the younger children need.

It was a pleasure to represent Hill Valley at the City-County Crime watch meeting. We seem to not have as many problems as other areas in the city. Keep up the good work and don’t be afraid to step up and handle the challenges that we continually have.

INFORMATION FOR NEW RESIDENTS OF HILL VALLEY

There are over 1100 homes in Hill Valley. We have grown together over the many years to support a Homeowners Association with a Board of Directors. Joining is only $25 per year and that provides for the cost of snow plowing our streets. We publish a quarterly Newsletter to inform everyone what¹s coming up next including information from the local Crime Watch organization with whom we cooperate. We have an annual picnic for all current members of the Hill Valley Homeowners Assn. At our website - www.hillvalley.org - you can find our mission statement, a map of the whole neighborhood, a list of all board members, a yearly calendar, past Newsletters, and important area phone numbers. The dues year is from January to December. We provide envelopes in the January newsletter to allow you to mail your dues in at the beginning of the year. This helps us pay for snow plowing when needed.
